Tunnel Vision…

What started as a nice day out turned into a hell of a random day. Started by going to Steetley in Hartlepool but the chimney has been blocked at the bottom, and it looks like there finally demoliting the place (so if you havnt been I’d get a move on)! Then we stopped at an underground, derelict reservior on the A19 (the last two photos in the post are of it) but after walking round it and over it, realised there’s no way in so moved on.

After leaving here we stopped at Seaham Dene and walked along to the tunnel furthest from the beach. There’s a deep lake type thing in front of it though so we had to walk the worst way round, climbing through thorn bushes and up and down slippy hills. Once in we stayed for about an hour but it gets pretty deep further in and we only had wellies on.

Next, we headed down to the beach end of the dene and walked through the tunnel there which was a lot less hassle.

A cold day in January…

I’d seen this place on photos before, but never realised how big the site actually was. Its like something from an apocolyptic movie and even though we went back another day, there’s still loads to explore, like some underground parts we didnt go in.

Here’s some history of the place here: http://www.neolithicsea.co.uk/steetleymagnesite/index.html
